Look out below

After a nice 50 mile ride on Saturday with the bike club gdbclub.com in which Michele did a great job on a new route with some good hills. After lunch and resting up we headed to the boat and managed to get the mast down. It went smooth and was fairly easy after checking and double checking everything to make sure it was ready and would be safe

Well the SV Rising Star is now a powerboat since we no longer have the ability to sail. The next step is to put her on the trailer and start the retrofit for voyages to unknown waters. I will do the first attempt on Thursday weather permitting.

Boat prep and new ride

Over the weekend while avoiding numerous rain storms we made a trip to the boat and brought a load of stuff from the boat like dishes clothes and bedding. We also took down the sails in preparation for hauling the boat out. I still need to take down the bimini top and the mast, I have taken this mast down only one time and it was ,well lets just say exciting. This putting the boat on its trailer and making it fit the trailer I built and then hoping it all works is exciting and scary at the same time.

We also went on a new bicycle ride called the Pappa's Pizza ride. This is a fun ride with no drops or breakaways, just fun and social and to help newer riders. I took a couple of photo's from the bike but they were mostly blurry and I am just guessing what will be in the frame as I can't see the screen. This is my evil eye and Michele and a few others in the background.

This is our tree that never blooms, this year is has so many flowers it's probably going to break off some limbs from the weight of the flowers, this limb is going to touch the ground if it doesn't break first.

Wasting a day can be a great use of it.

Calfornia Dreaming

This past weekend we took my parents (seated at right) and my mothers sister and her husband sailing on a very nice evening. Margaret and Art are visiting from California and it was nice to spend some time with them and I think they enjoyed the outing. In the photo you can see the fishing poles in their holders and we did manage to catch a nice white bass while trolling. Michele isn't in the picture because she took it.On Tuesday I felt good enough to resume my rides with the Tuesday night fast group, we did 30 miles at a 19.6 average even with stop signs, lights and traffic. This picture is a nice look past me (on the right) at our 20 plus member rotating pace line. In this pace line we rotated counter clockwise so everyone got to do a pull for a short time every few minutes.
Remember our Vets today its Flag Day, and fly your flag

Feeling better

My sciatica has gotten much better and Michele and I each went on different rides Saturday and both enjoyed the nice day. I did 54 miles and had a modest 17.8 average and felt good after the ride.

Sunday afternoon we went sailing and took a pasta salad for lunch. We made this salad with basil and tomato's from our garden, and added fresh mozzarella cheese and a good alive oil, it was a great and easy to serve meal.
The lake is now 1.7 ft over normal level and we had a fresh 12 mph breeze, in this pic I'm grinding the winch to sheet in the genny. No that is not talking dirty.
Michele is on the bow and spots a house I know she would like to have, and it is a nice home but a little out of our range. It's risky business on the bow when we are heeled over like this.

This house even has a widow walk on top so she could watch for me coming in from a hard day on the lake.
If you wait for all the lights to be green before you go it will be to late.
