Airport Ride

Saturday morning I rode from the house and met the group from GDB (Greater Dallas Bicyclists at www.gdbclub.com ) the Airport ride, on this ride we ride to the DFW Airport and ride a lap around the entire airport for about 54 miles. This ride has been listed in Bicycle Magazine as a top 10 ride. Today it was wet from the overnight rain and we all had stripes on our backs and took it a little slower than ususal because it was so slick. With about 7 miles to go my front tire started going down slowly but I made it home without changing the tube on the side of the road. After lunch I changed the tube and while cleaning the bike I noticed the rear Bontrager wheel is developing hairline cracks around the spoke nipples, this wheel was replaced under warranty for the same reason but is now out of warranty. The Treck 2100 has been a good bike for the price but the Bantrager Race wheels are junk in my opinion. I guess I will have to buy a new wheel and this goes against my intentionaly frugal lifestyle. While it is not out of neccesity we do try to lead a simple lifstyle and are anti-consumers. We do not do without but are conservitive in our purchases and enjoy doing this, at least the ride was fun. I will have to ride my old mountain bike until I get the wheel replaced.
On the frugal side I won a 25 dollar gift coupon to Plano Cycling And Fitness and bought some new tubes and other supplies as well as a new water bottle holder for Michele's Specialized Dolce, all in all a good day.

Moving my journal

I have had a journal on AOL for a few months and am checking out blogger to see if I would like to use it instead, lets see how it goes installing pictures and the like. The AOL free journal is easy to use but is very limited and hard for people to find without the full link.
It has rained hard tonight, we need the rain but I hope it stops so we can ride tomorrow, there are a couple of options and I will write about what happens.
I am in the process of building a sailboat trailer for the O'day 272 so I can haul it and work on the bottom. It's been in the water forever and needs some TLC. My welding skills are rusty but I have a nice garage to build the trailer in and my bussiness is slow in the winter.
