A look at Meridian State Park / review

This was our first trip to this Park, here at home we have been cold, grey and covered with snow so when a window in the weather opened up we jumped on it and headed southwest.

This is a nice park with only 8 sites for RVs which gave the RV section a cozy feel and we visited with almost everyone staying in this area. The park also has screened shelters and tent campsites as well as primitive sites.

Saturday after getting set up we mapped out about 5 miles of trails and had a great hike. With the recent snow melt the creeks were flowing and we saw numerous waterfalls, fossills from the old sea floor and even had to add a few stones to one crossing to make it. Sprocket needs no stones, he just splashed through living large off the leash.
Sunday started off cool for my bike ride, there is a one way scenic section of road that makes a loop in the park and I rode 6 laps on the course without seeing a car. This road has a new smooth surface, tons of short steep climbs and its fun to take all the turns on the inside since its a one way.

We also hiked to this overhang in the limestone and I could picture myself years ago finding shelter here.

It warmed up to be a shorts and t-shirt day and we headed to a local winery named the Red Caboose Winery and were lucky enough to get a tasting on the flagstone patio and a tour of the facility, we had a great time here and I think they may have also by the time we checked out.

While cooking over the fire Sunday evening the north wind picked up and by Monday morning we had the heater cranked up in the camper. With the change in the weather we just lounged around and drank coffee before taking the back roads home.

Today is our anniversary, 21 years, each better than the one before it.
